Pred par dnevi smo ga dobili, novo Linux jedro namreè. Le kaj nam ta prinaša? Da se ne bi razpisal bom kar kopiral odstavek z njihove spletne strani:
2.6.21 improves the virtualization features merged in 2.6.20 with VMI (http://lwn.net/Articles/175706), a paravirtualization interface that will be used by Vmware (and maybe -probably not- Xen) software. KVM does get initial paravirtualization along with live migration and host suspend/resume support (http://lwn.net/Articles/223839). 2.6.21 also gets a tickless idle loop mechanism called “Dynticks” (http://lwn.net/Articles/223185), a feature built in top of “clockevents” which unifies the timer handling and brings true high-resolution timers. Other features are: bigger kernel command-line, optional ZONE_DMA; support for the PA SEMI PWRficient CPU, for a Cell-based “celleb” architecture from Toshiba, better PS3 support: support for NFS IPv6, IPv4 <-> IPv6 IPSEC tunneling support, UFS2 write support, kprobes for PPC32, kexec and oprofile for ARM, public key encription for ecryptfs, Fcrypt and Camilla cipher algorithms, NAT port randomization, audit lockdown mode, many new drivers and many other small improvements.

Ubuntu 7.04 je tu

Dobili smo Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn. Strežniki za download so trenutno zelo zasedeni, tako da vam želim obilico sreèe za hiter download. Že beta razlièica je prinesla ker precej novosti, ki pa so sedaj konèno postale “stabilne”. Nov Ubutnu pa je kot vse ostale razlièice dostopen v vseh okusih, torej Ubuntu, Kubuntu, XUbuntu, Edubuntu, … Izjavo za javnost, pa si lahko preberete s klikom sem.

Firmware za Asus WL

Oleg je izdal novo verzijo FirmWare-a za Asusove routerje:

1. New Busybox applets (env, cmp, wc, md5sum sha-1)
2. IGMP proxy added (multicast routing [IPTV]) (IP Config | Route > Enable multicast routing?)
3. Added an option to specify 802.11 multicast rate (Wireless | Advanced > Multicast rate)

5. Fixed compile problems with newer Linux ditributions
6. Web interface should no longer show Cable Disconnected status

19. WL500g Deluxe/Premium/WL550gE now rescpect WAN port settings from the web
20. WL500g Premium/WL550gE now better handles OFDM transmitter power setting
21. Added support for /etc/fstab before automount
22. Fixed problems then upgradinf via WiFi using WPA/WPA-PSK
23. Disabled “power off” for all units except WL-HDD
24. Pressing EZ SETUP button for 3 seconds would cause /usr/local/sbin/ez-setup to be executed

CentOS 5 za i386 in X86_64

Na voljo za download je CentOS 5, ki je po mojem mnenju najboljši klon RHEL distribucije. Celoten announcment s par napotki je na voljo na spletnih straneh CentOS-a. Na WiKi straneh imajo par navodil/nasvetov za migracijo, ter seveda download stran za vse neuèakane.

Zanimiv programèek, ki nam omogoèa ti. undelete na EXT2/EXT3 datoteènih sistemih. Recovery izbrisanih datotek lahko izvajamo po celotnem datoteènem sistemu, po datotekah, katerih lastnik je samo doloèen uporabnik, po tipih datotek, recimo TXT ali MP3 ipd. Program z imenom GIIS najdemo na SourceForge-u.
